You can't fool anyone.
Putting up this front
As if you're happy at the world.
But I know you're out to get me.

You say you didn't steal,
Or take, or manipulate.
But I can see right through you
Even if everyone else can't.

What have I done to you?
I just wanted to be alone,
Away from you and your games.
But still you hound me endlessly.

You stalk me.
I know you're right behind

It's not yours.

Still you war with me
And even though I don't get help
I still battle on
Until I can't move forward anymore.

You may win one time,

And do what's right and just.

"Happy New Year.
Please stop fighting.
You know you can't win

Tears roll down my face.
It's not grief,
Nor sadness, nor joy.
It's anger. How could you?

"Happy New Year? What's so new?
You've given me so much sorrow,
So much anguish and lies!
Now you must take more?"

And you'll just shake your head
As if I'm the wrong one.
I know you will.
You always do.

But for today it's a new day.
I'll back down this once.
But that doesn't mean you've won.
Someday, I know I will win.

So I sit with you on a mountain
And stare at the first sunset.
You may look at me lovingly,
But I don't know if I want to look back.

Because someday,
